The Rose Tree 玫瑰樹
Rose-tree, my beauteous rose-tree !
我美麗的玫瑰樹，玫瑰樹!
Often have I longed to know
我常常想知道
How thy tender leaves were moulded -
如何塑造你的嫩葉—
How thy buds are burst, and blow.
如何你的芽被風吹開。
I have watered, sunned, and trained thee,
我澆水，曬曬太陽，并訓練你，
And have watched thee many an hour ;
目睹你許多個小時;
Yet I never could discover
但我從未發現
How a bud becomes a flower.
如何成為一個花的蓓蕾。
So, last night, I thought about thee

On my pillow, till at last

I was gone in quiet slumber.

Gently as they gathered round thee

Lifting then their shining pinions,

Quick the angels passed from sight,

There I heard sweet strains of music,

And my rose-tree stood before me,

Hence, whenever I behold thee,

AWAKE, my pet !

The sash, and tried

Awake, my dear,

The winter drear

Has fled with all things dreary,

But quickly by

The spring will fly,

And soon the birds will weary.

Awake while yet
醒來時還
The dew is wet
霜露打濕了
And day is young, my deary.
